About Me/Contact

Behind all the in-game avatars, I’m an avid gamer/bibliophile/total geek originally from Toronto, Canada but now I’m living in the US. I’m a freelance artist and have worked with many styles of art in the past, though my current focus is penciling in comic art and wildlife paintings (what a combo, huh?) Between working on my commissions I have a pretty flexible schedule which allows me to enjoy my games and write this personal blog, though ever since my daughter was born my gaming time has taken a hit! My main interest is in MMORPGs, though you’ll sometimes catch me indulging in other PC games, some Xbox 360, or enjoying a good fantasy or science fiction novel.

You can contact me by leaving me a comment or writing to: mmogamerchick (at) gmail (dot) com, or look me up at  twitter.com/MMOGC

  1. Just found your blog via a link from “In Between the RPG”. :)

I enjoyed reading the posts, even though I’m not playing STO or AOC at the moment, it’s always nice to read about other MMO’s.

I’m going to put a link up to you on our blog roll at mmo-symposium.com. If you fancy returning the favour with a link in yours that would be great.

    Keep up the blogging. :)

    • Glad you enjoy my blog and thanks! And will do :)

  2. I am interested in e-mailing you, but I can’t figure out your address from the links you have here. Unless the “list your da

    • For the love of god, I suck at modern tech sometimes. I think you can see my e-mail address now. I have no subjects apart from MMO blogs in mind. I don’t check my g-mail a ton, so be warned it may take me a bit to get back.

  3. GamingWeez would be interesting in talking to you about MMO blogs. Check us out at http://www.GamingWeez.com and send us an e-mail if interested. We were unable to find yours.

  4. Hi there,

tripped over your blog while googleing topics surrounding LotRO and saw your post about videogame soundtracks.

I just found out that you’re able to download 61 LotRO mp3s for free on fileplanet. So if you’re still missing some tracks and are interested in completing your collection have a try by downloading these:

  7. Just found your awesome blog thanks to a comment you made recently on a friend of mine’s Minecraft post!

I’m definitely adding you on Twitter and linking to your great blog! :)

  8. Thanks for checking out my blog, I really appreciate it :D

  9. Since I am not a big twitter user, I figured this would be a proper place for well-wishes.

I’m sorry to hear that your father-in-law is in the hospital, and that you have your own health issues to boot. Sometimes it seems when it rains, it pours. But don’t worry yourself too much — worry just slows down the healing process.

If it’s any consolation, add me to the list of people who will be sending good vibes and prayers your way, to your father-in-law, and any family and friends who may need them.

Take care, get well, and try not to stress out too much about things.

But if you still do (it happens), just know there are people out there that are pulling for you. I know I am.

    Jara

    • Damn, I just saw that your father-in-law passed away.

God Bless you, and all who are affected by this loss.

When you lose someone, usually the first thing you do is count your blessings. Right now, I imagine your husband will be thanking the heavens that he has a wife that loves him, and that can be there for him during this time.

Take care of yourself, your husband, and your family. My prayers are with you all.

      Jara

  10. Hey there,

  11. Hi,

    My name is Michael,

I am the webmaster of a few websites with a similar niche as mmogamerchick.wordpress.com, which I found ranking well on Google.
My websites matches your site perfectly in SEO terms such as topic, content, page rank and more, and for this reason I wanted to discuss the possibility of a link exchange with you.
As you probably already know, exchanging links with other gaming sites will improve both of our rankings, so it’s basically a win-win situation.

If you are interested, simply email me or add me to your Skype, and we will move this forward.

    My contact details:

    Email: michael.seo.exp@gmail.com
    Skype: michael_b_seo

Looking forward to hearing back from you,

    Michael

    • Ah, what fun…Gotta love spammers (as in, Michael above).

Keep up the great work with your site, MMOGC, it’s a great read!

  12. Hi Caylinn,

Come back to Star Trek Online. There is a new Featured serie begining this saturday with unique items as rewards & it is now FREE to play. In this serie, the Dominion from 2373 are back which is odd & strange. We can see them on an Episode of Star Trek Deep Space Nine during the Dominion war while the Federation try to take back the station in “Sacrifice of Angels”

Great blog by the way. I stumble upon it while searching for something on the web.

    Take care,
    See you soon.

  13. Having just noticed the twitter feed out of the corner of my eye, the reason for less blog activity recently seems perfectly clear – and what an incredible reason!

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter. First child? The nights won’t get any less tiresome after today, but what makes it worth it is knowing those middle of the night feedings are all for a person that thinks you are perfect and can do no wrong. Enjoy that feeling as long as possible (children get impudent as they grow, so God knows that reverence won’t last forever).:-P

As always, my thoughts and prayers are headed that way. Rest well, and enjoy the beautiful gift you’ve been given. I’m sure you and your husband will be great parents.

Oh, and be sure to teach the little one how to tank or heal – there are WAY too many dps these days.

    Jara

  14. love reading your blog. Deff plan to add the link on mine so that others may follow.

  15. Hello,

I have an MMORPG game I’ve been working on for the past six months or so. I recently started a Kickstarter project to complete the game, and was hoping you could write a short blog article about the Kickstartarter project.

The game is called the Planes of Merinia, and will be a free-to-play MMORPG. Players will not need to purchase anything in order to level or compete in PvP, although there will be an online store where they may purchase additional goods if they want.

Below is a brief description and the link to the Kickstarter project.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration,
    Philip

Can you protect the Planes of Merinia from Master Mage Draekor? The protection spell has been broken, and the Planes are now invading Merinia’s cities and villages. Build your Guild City, steal your opponents skills and spells, and protect Merinia from the Dark Planes.

In Merinia, you do not choose a class. Instead, you can learn skills, spells, and crafts from multiple classes. You can learn healing, fire magic, and sword master, for example. As you gain levels for your character, you can increase your set of skills. Your skills only level if you use them (they do not automatically increase when your character level increases). This is an incentive for you to actually use the fire magic skill set, for example.

Build your own items. In Merinia, you can construct your own weapons, armor, artifiacts, items, etc. Included in the game is an item editor. Create a vorpal sword, or a golden bag. Whatever you can imagine. Items can have scripts attached to them, allow for animation, actions, and special events. Some created items can be sold in the market

Support the Planes of Merinia on Kickstarter – http://kck.st/merinia

    • One thing I personally wonder about this game is if the graphics will get an overhaul for the Windows version? I can understand the graphics scaling back a bit on mobile devices, but I’d hope that the graphics will be more detailed than they appear in the picture on the Kickstarter page.

      • Yes, I recently brought on a new Level Designer, who is redesigning the Planes. Already they look ten times better than in my promo video.
Also, the main reason for the Kickstarter project was to be able to afford a decent 3D designer who can create new models and revamp the existing ones.

  16. Hi there!
I’ve been lurking on your blog for a while now and decided to come out of the shadows to tell you how much I enjoy reading your posts. As a fellow girl gamer, I can relate to a lot of things you have to say about various games. I’ve played (and loved) WoW, Rift, and GW2. I’ve also tried other various F2P games along the way.

I’ve been wondering how you’re enjoying GW2. I love the leveling aspect of it, but I have to admit that I can easily put it down and not come back to it. It doesn’t have the obsessive quality that WoW had over me (I suppose that could be a good thing, lol). I think my problem is lack of “fluff”, to drive me to continue. As long as I’m happy with the look of my girl, I have nothing else to pursue. No mounts, pets, etc. Yes there are minis, but it feel like if I have them people will just think I spent a fortune on gems to get complete collection. Some of my fondest memories of WoW were seeing a high level player on an amazing mount, finding out where it came from, and working toward getting it. The first time I got on my Netherwing Drake was a very happy day. :) So I’m just wondering how other fluff lovers are dealing with it. What sort of things are driving you in GW2?

    • Hi! Thanks for reading the blog. Actually, to be honest, even though I’m sure GW2 has “fluff” in abundance, not much of it has stood out to me or have motivated me so far. The only thing that really “drives” me in GW2 is map completion. Something about them just makes me feel like I gotta get it all! Minis, on the other hand…meh. Like you said, it’s not so much fun when you can get it for gems. I like to earn my pets, like in WoW. I’m big on pet collecting there, precisely because most of them take actual work. GW2 is more casual in that respect, though I’m sure some people like their fluff in the form of collecting and earning armor sets!

  17. I nominated you for the One Lovely Blog award. :D Here is the post with all the info: http://dreampunkgeek.wordpress.com/2012/09/21/one-lovely-blog-award/

    • Aww, that’s very cool of you, thanks! :D

  18. I love your work! Great reading. I have just launched a new Indiegogo project to build a female-friendly gaming social network. I would be honored if you would check it out. Hopefully you’ll like it and might even give it a thumbs up. Project is here http://igg.me/p/311109/x/2084062

    Keep up the good work.

  19. Hello, you two!

My name is Alex C. Barberi. I have been reading the articles on your blog and they are great to read! Thanks for writing them. I am also getting my blog, Questers Anonymous, started up. On my blog I will be giving my first impressions of the MMOs I try out so that I can give players a feel for the MMOs before they download them.

Since your blog is well-written and has good content, I would like to put your blog in my “Blogroll” which I am about to add to my blog. I was also hoping you could review the content on my blog and consider adding my blog to your blogroll as well.

    Let me know!

    Thanks,
    Alex C. Barberi

    • Sure thing! Added!

      • Great, thanks! I just added my blogroll and your blog is on it. :)

  20. I just wanted to give you a big thumbs up for this blog. I just discovered MMOs and I’m “already” 23. I know, I know, was I living under a rock, or what?! :P
I look forward to reading your opinions/highlights, especially on The Secret World, Guild Wars 2 and Rift. I started Rift since it’s F2P, but considering either TSW or GW2.
Happy gaming from a fellow gamer girl! :)

    • TSW, GW2 and Rift are all great games I loved! TSW and GW2 are free after you get the retail box, but these days you can usually find some good sales. And it’s definitely worth it, being able to play without a sub afterward, and there’s always lots of content. Happy gaming, and thanks for stopping by! :D

  21. Hi there! :) I just found this blog, and wanted to let you know it just made my day! I hope that you keep finding the time to write and work on your art, because you’re very talented. Have a happy day!
