Today’s Friday Update brings us a new Timeline holorecord! Master Lance Henriksen–*ahem*–I mean, Master Gnost-Dural gives his report detailing the Sith Empire’s carefully planned surprise attack on the Republic 28 years before the assault on Coruscant and the signing of the Treaty of Coruscant. You can see the full article here.
Is it just me, or does the Republic never get a break? Since the Designing the Dark Side video, the updates thus far have been heavily Sith-centric. Now, I get that the back story at this time is all about how the Sith Empire is gaining ground, but still…you could at least make the good guys look somewhat competent. Instead, Bioware seems intent on painting the Republic as the biggest bunch of quibbling morons in the galaxy, who seem totally oblivious as to what’s happening around them most of the time. Consider this new Onslaught of the Sith Empire video. Every time I turn around, the Republic is either being sacked or ambushed, “desperate” and “overwhelmed” and constantly teetering on the edge of “complete annihilation”. On the other hand, the Sith Emperor is described as a “genius” and his “well-orchestrated” and “carefully coordinated” attack of “colossal proportions” was “meticulous” and “flawless”. In fact, the Jedi taking matters into their own hands towards the end of this video was the Republic’s only saving grace.
I mean, come on Bioware, this is hardly being impartial. I’ve decided a long time ago that I’ll be playing the Sith Empire ever since the Bounty Hunter class was announced, so while I’m happy the Sith are getting so much love, you could at least make the competition look worthy!
