I wasn’t too crazy about the Exploration Missions in Star Trek Online before, but I have to say they’re starting to grow on me! For one thing, doing these missions is a very efficient way to level when you’re just starting out. You get a decent chunk of experience upon completion and they usually go by pretty quickly — if you check your logs afterwards you can see how long it took, and I once timed in at just under 15 minutes to complete a set of three, and this was doing it at a leisurely pace.
Not to mention, doing these missions is also a great way to farm anomalies for Memory Alpha. You can never have too much data to give to Romaine et al.
And of course, the best part about Exploration is that you get to visit plenty of new and gorgeously rendered environments. Like the title of this post implies, space may be empty, but it sure is colorful.
